The 2nd Ice Swimming Aqua Sphere World Championships and the 3rd Ice Swimming Aqua Sphere German Open, from 5th – 8th of January 2017, is THE ice-water-swim-event in Germany and a MUST DO for every athlete who's searching for an extraordinary challenge. Ice cold, crystal clear water, international participants and the longest castle in the world will provide the ideal conditions and background for a sporting long weekend of fun, action, great atmosphere and loads of adrenalin in Burghausen, Bavaria.

Water Temperature

You can be assured of “extreme goosebumps” with water temperatures of less than 5º C!

Wöhrsee, Burghausen. Ice-free competition pool at the foot of the world’s longest castle.

Warm-up Area

Heated tents, hot tubs, patio heaters, saunas etc are available at the venue.

Ice-free pool in the lake (Wöhrsee) - 8 x 25 m lanes.

Safety / Rules

Safety first...

Swim wear

It's only allowed to wear normal swim wear (swimming trunks, Swimsuits/Bikini for women). The competitions are under the rules of the International Ice Swimming Association (IISA): www.internationaliceswimming.com/rules

Time limit

The time limit of a race is the beginning of the following heat. Slower swimmer will catch out of the water and counted as dnf.

 

Safety briefing

All competitors have to participate at the safety briefing. All competitors starts at one's own risk. The organising comite doesn´t take any responsibility for any kind of damages or accidents.

By sending the registration, every athlete confirms its competition ability.

Safety and rules

Each competitor swims on his / her own risk and it is compulsery, that everybody swims with a safetybuoy from RESTUBE (you can borrow at the competition).

Each participant of the 450m and 1k event must present proof that he/she has swam a similar distance in the past 12 months in temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius. Proof can be a cert of completion or a signed declaration. This can be done on the day if not prepared in advance. Please advise with your application.

Eligibility & Safety regulations

Eligibility

Entries are open. A Membership in a Swimming Club is not necessary. With your registration, you certify herewith, that you are in a good healthy position, for swimming in ice cold water the choosen distance. The minimum ager for an entry is 16 years. You accept the rules of the International Ice Swimming Association (www.internationaliceswimming.com). The organising comite reserve the right, to exclude participants at every time from the competition.
